March 9th 2005 - Ellie's Farewell, Onsen

Ellie's going back to England tomorrow (just for a holiday, she's coming back again in 2 weeks), so we all went to Joyfull restaurant tonight as a send-off. Joyfull is pretty similar to Gusto - Japanese and Western meals at a cheap price in a nice casual atmosphere. I had potato zenzai for dessert, the first time I've had zenzai in a restaurant, and my god it was filling. And delicious! I also had a bacon and penne gratin, which was the first time I've eaten cheese in a long time. That was sooo good too.

Going to the onsen last night with Ellie was really good. It was the first time I'd been to that onsen (and the second time I've been to any), and it really was as good as the recommendations said. For the equivalent of £3.00, we got to spend as long as we wanted in the onsen, which consisted of several different baths (some hot, some REALLY hot, and one freezing cold), a Jacuzzi (which was a nice cool break from the hot baths), a steam room (which we only stayed in for about a minute as we could hardly breathe), a sauna (complete with a TV), and these very relaxing "water massage" seats. The best thing is that the Jacuzzi and the hotter baths were in an open-roof section, so we could relax under the stars :) As Ellie said, an onsen is really the place to go if you're in a bad mood - you never fail to feel relaxed and happy afterwards!

After that, we ate ice cream from the vending machines at the onsen, and then went to Gusto where I had lots and lots of iced hot chocolate. It really was a fantastic night.
